Harmony Week was full of activities celebrating diversity within our school community and across Australia. Students shared stories about their culture, collaborative artworks were made and we finished the week with an assembly performance by the choir and a display of our finest orange clothing or traditional dress.
We also had two student led initiatives to show support for the families in Turkey and Syria affected by the February earthquake; a well wishes table where students could write messages of hope and support, and a cupcake stall to raise money. These students raised just over $250!
Harmony day is a special day for us at North Morley where we continue to celebrate the rich and diverse culture at our school. Here are just a few photos from the week’s events.
Ride 2 School Day
The bike rack was over flowing on National Ride2School Day. Students embraced the Harmony Day theme and dressed their bikes up for the occasion.
We encourage all of our North Morley families to choose active transport wherever possible. Being amongst nature and being active gets our bodies ready for learning and is an excellent way to start the day.
Pre Primary Boats
The Pre Primary students were visited by Captain Red Beard for a morning of boat making and sailing. We love it when members of our school community visit classrooms and share their talents. Thank you Elijah for spending time with the Pre Primary students. They had a ball!
GRIP Conference
Our student councillors attended the Primary School GRIP Leadership Conference. They met with students from across the city to learn about leadership. This was such a rewarding day for the students and an excellent opportunity to collaborate with their peers.
