The North Morley Primary School community is committed to the development of a sustainable school. We endeavour to use best sustainability practices to develop each students personal understanding, knowledge and empathy for environmental issues. Through ongoing programs that develop environmental consciousness and more sustainable ways of doing everyday activities, we strive to make our school environment a more pleasant place to work, play and live.
Recycling
North Morley Primary School is both a Waste Wise and Water Wise School. This has been achieved through the continued work in reducing, reusing and recycling within our school. Our recycling hub is located in the P&C Block where Container’s for Change, Red Cycle, Battery recycling and bread tags are collected.
Containers for Change
North Morley Primary is a collection point for Containers for Change. We are working with our Volume Partner – Scouts WA Recycling – who will collect our eligible containers and return the refund to our P&C Association to directly benefit the students at our school. Families may leave there recyclable items in the recycling hub. Alternatively our Scheme ID number is C10240726. Below is a link to items that are eligible:
Green Team
Our student led Green Team promote Nude Food Wednesday to reduce lunchbox waste, ensure our compost is healthy and promote other green projects through the school year.
Garden Club
The Garden Club is run by volunteer parents. Students have the opportunity to get their hands dirty planting and harvesting vegetables in the school garden. This provides time for students to build a strong connection with the environment. Garden Club days will be advertised on our website calendar.
Your Move
North Morley is a Your Move School, promoting active transport on a daily basis. We participate in walk and ride to school days as well as other active initiatives throughout the year. Our Walking School Bus, run by volunteer parents, operates on Mondays and Friday. Please visit the office if you would like to find out more information.
Reduce Your Carbon Footprint
North Morley is part of the Climate Clever initiative. We are working toward reducing our carbon footprint through measuring our impact at school and making a change. We continue to increase the tree canopy on our school grounds with planting sessions with students throughout the year.
